Woodlands is a residential care home for twelve adults with learning disabilities. Woodlands is a home for life, unless we can no longer provide the care the individual needs. We do offer respite care within the home.
The home caters for adults with varying needs by providing a comprehensive assessment of individuals so the relevant support can be made available.
We do not cater for Sever Challenging Behaviours.
Woodlands is a Victorian House close to the centre of Kidderminster making it central to many local amenities. The home is known for its friendly welcoming residents and staff team.
The home has six single bedrooms and three double rooms all of which are furnished and have wash hand basins. Several of the rooms are on-suit.
There are 5 bathrooms in total, offering both bathing and showering facilities also there is a bath hoist available for our less able residents to use if they so wish.
Woodlands has a experienced well trained staff team which includes a highly trained and experienced deputy manager and a senior support team thereby enhancing the overall quality of care provided. We aim to provide and maintain a warm homely environment where individuals feel, they are involved in the day to day choice of their lives.
Vacancies rarely occur within the home, we are a home for life although we do have facilities to offer respite care, some of our residents have lived within the home for 25 years plus. We have a vacancy at present; it is a large 1st floor room, it is a very pleasant room and is fully furnished. Residents on coming to live at the home are encouraged to bring their own furniture (as long as it fits into the room) and electrical appliances which must be PAT tested, to ensure they are in full working order.
The admission procedure we use is:
Manager on application from an individual’s representative and reviewing the community care assessment, the individual and their representatives will be invited to visit the home or if appropriate Jo will arrange to meet the person in their familiar environment before a visit it organised.
An invitation to come for dinner and meet the residents and staff team will be organised. Depending on the individual this will happen on as many occasions as is felt needed by all people involved in the situation. When it is felt the time is right an over night stay will be organised, I. If this goes well a date for moving in can be organised. Visits are all organised on a need basis, it may take some individual weeks to acclimatise/decide they are ready to join us at Woodland; we progress at the persons/representatives choice and need.
