PURPOSE OF THE HOME
To provide personal care to individuals of both sexes aged between 18 & 64. It is advisable that prospective new service users have similar abilities and age ranges to the existing service users.

To provide a home for life for service users, the exceptions being if the service user requires nursing care which cannot be provided with the aid of the local district nurse services, or the needs of the service user means that the home no longer meets the requirements of the individual.

To foster an atmosphere of care and support which both enables and encourages our service users to live as full, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible with rules and regulations being kept to a minimum.

OUR QUALITY POLICY
At Ash wood we are always striving to improve the quality of our service. One of the main ways of doing this is to listen to service users views and the views of their friends, family, advocates etc. Service users are encouraged to participate at the regular service users meetings and completing service user surveys. By being responsive to service users’ wishes we hope that their life at Ashwood will be as interesting and fulfilling as possible.

The Ashwood is committed to providing quality services for service users by caring, competent, well trained staff in a homely atmosphere.

This will be achieved by:
  1. Staff development programme
  2. Recruitment of staff who share our values and will create a homely atmosphere.
  3. Providing such resources as may be required to ensure that training takes place and is effective.
Our Home will provide services based upon consultation and assessment of the service users needs.

This will be achieved by:
  1. Listening to service users, staff and others with an interest in the Home.
  2. Ensuring that assessments are made which balance risks and needs.
  3. Promoting a level of responsible risk-taking in daily living activity.
  4. The operation of an effective service user planning & review system.
Our Home will involve service users in the planning and review of the services that are provided for them to ensure that their needs are met.

This will be achieved by:
  1. Enabling and empowering service users to influence the services provided in the Home by giving each service user a real say in how services are delivered.
  2. Encouraging service users to become involved in all decisions which are likely to affect them, either now or in the longer term.
Our Home will afford all service users and staff an equality of opportunity in respect of living or working in the Home.

Our Home will ensure that the Home is a safe and secure place to live.

This will be achieved by:
  1. Ensuring that the physical environment meets all Health and Safety Standards.
  2. Providing each service user with a safe and secure place to store their valuables.
Our Home will offer a range of social activities, which meet the needs of the service users.

This will be achieved by:
  1. Ensuring that activities are offered to each service users which are appropriate to their needs, abilities or expressed wishes.
  2. Ensuring that the Home considers their social, spiritual, cultural, emotional and physical needs in the services it offers to service users,
  3. Ensuring that service users feel comfortable to decline any or all of the activities offered by the Home.
